Biography

Born in Teneha, Texas, Matt was the youngest of 8 children, raised on a mayonnaise farm. Although he got his start very late in life as a comedian, Matt always knew what he wanted to be. He attributes a lot of his wit and humor to his long life of crime. Matt started out at some of the less reputable clubs on the rough and tumble city's South side, where he quickly developed a following with his sharp tongue and astute social commentary.  Many believe it was at Curly's Back Room that he honed his trademark delivery and developed a lifelong love of loose women and cigarettes. 

With the help of his reputation (and unnaturally thick goatee), he moved up to the regular comedy circuit, playing in bars and nightclubs where he would normally otherwise be denied entrance.  But the crowds came in droves to witness firsthand the magic that was a Matt $tax set.  His uncomprimising style encompassed a view that was at once both scathing and egalitarian.  As famed comedian and Mississippi fixture Silas "Cookie" Morrow would say "That boy's blackness alone could win you over.  Wherever you come from, wherever you goin', you know ol' Matt $tax'll make ya laugh so hard, you pull somethin'".

After fine tuning his act Matt $tax is ready to take his comedy to the next level with his debut album.  Matt $tax's Love Stories picks up where his Bitch, You Are STRAIGHT Trippin'! tour left off.  Or as Humor Monthly Magazine put it so well:  "Comedy has a new name.  And that name is often referred to by Matt $tax in casual conversation with friends."
